To Retune your Loewe Television

This is not difficult, just follow the steps below. But please read this page to the end before starting the retune.

Re-tuning is very important, watch press for details.

• Turn on TV, select 1 (press button 1), don’t worry if there is no picture

• Press Assist (on older sets press info). Assist button is in the center of your remote, Info button is on the center right.

• Scroll to Index and press OK

• Select Repeat Initial Installation and press OK

• Press OK to each question

• When asked what to re-tune to, Analogue, DVB-t etc. make sure there is a tick next to DVB-t (use the yellow button). Take any other ticks away. (DVB-t = Digital Video Broadcast – Terrestrial)

• The set will then scan the stations and retune for your signal.

• Press OK to all further questions.

• On older sets, where you started by pressing the Info button, the radio re-tune may take longer than the TV re-tune. If the radio re-tune gets stuck for more than 5 minutes, turn off the TV at the mains, then turn on again. The TV channels should be right but the radio channels will not be. If this happens call the shop.

You will certainly have to retune after 6am on 31st August 2011, you may also have to retune on 12th October but this is unlikely for most people.

After 31st August the signal and picture should be much better.

You will also be able to get HD channels via the aerial with a Freeview HD box from Around Sound.

You can currently get HD channels via a Satellite Dish with a Freesat HD box.

If you find the wrong BBC1 is at channel 1 (if you get West Midlands or Yorkshire news instead of East Midlands) try looking around channel 800 – 810. Just press 800 on your remote or press OK and navigate to channels around 800.

On 31st August the Waltham signal becomes much stronger than before. If this extra strength causes viewing problems, flecks on the screen or interference, call at the shop to buy an inexpensive de-modulator (a small box that will reduce the signal strength to the TV).

If you have a mast head amplifier (look behind your TV for a small box with a red light) try turning this off as your signal may not now need amplification.

Although we are booked up with visits this week, we can visit next week to assist and advise you. We charge £45 for one visit with and extra £5 per set, re tuned at the same time.

If you have any old TV sets or Video or DVD recorders that do not have digital tuners, you can add a Freeview box to bring these old sets up to date. Basic Freeview boxes can be bought from any supermarket.

We can supply Humax Freeview boxes with built in recorders. A basic Freeview Box with a twin recorder (will record 2 things at once) is £189.

A HD Freeview Box with twin recorders is £299 for 500Gb and £349 for 1 TB. 500Gb is well over 50 hours of TV.

If you have a Satellite Dish with 1 or 2 leads to an old Sky box, then you could have a Freesat Box. Humax Foxsat HD twin recorder 500Gb, £269, and 1Tb £319. The only benefit of Freesat over Freeview is there is never any need to re-tune.

All boxes mentioned above can receive BBC iPlayer if connected to a router. We can do this over your mains supply for as little as £80.
